The paper tried to find out the
problems and the difficulties of the affected persons in
their everyday life. So it is directed to support on the one
hand the efforts of the affected persons to achieve a
self-determined life and to contribute on the other hand to
the advancement of this residential facility. For it two
empiric investigations were carried out in the region Central
Hessen. The results of this paper show that without
established and balanced reciprocity of You-relatedness the
merely structural and system-dependent attempts of inclusion
in assisted living hardly can contribute to a successful
self-determined life in the society for the so-called
mentally disabled people. Therefore the paper demands mutual
interest and mutual efforts of fellow human beings, the
transformation of society as well as a politics for a common
and joint life in an inclusive society.
