This dataset comprises the average values of the components of machining force (cutting force, feed force, and passive force) measured during radial grooving of AISI 1045 steel and the surface roughness (Ra and Rt) of the resulting machined surfaces. Two variations of radial grooving are represented in this dataset: single grooving, were the entire cutting edge of the tool is used, and partial grooving, were only a fraction of the cutting edge is used. Three lubri-cooling methods were evaluated in this study: flood (WET), compressed air (AIR), and minimum quantity lubrication (MQL). The analysis of the presented data indicates that both AIR and MQL may be suitable environmentally friendly substitutes for traditional WET lubrication in radial grooving.
