Research data for publication funded by the GREEN-MAP project. In preliminary studies, the activity of biodegradable polyester matrices containing conjugated bioactive compounds was verified. Bbioactive synthetic oligo(3-hydroxy-3-(4-methoxybenzoyloxymethyl)propionate) and oligo[(3-hydroxy-3-(4-methoxybenzoyloxymethyl)-propionate)-co-(3-hydroxybutyrate)] were obtained via anionic ring-opening oligomerization. Molecular weight of the bioactive PHBV films before and after use, measured by GPC. In vitro cytotoxicity studies showed that the synthesized bioactive polyesters were non-toxic and well tolerated by the tested cells. The application of ESI-MS spectrometry to characterize aqua-soluble hydrolytic degradation products of bioactive polyesters allowed to determine their molecular level chemical structure and helped to confirm that the system developed release bioactive compound.
