This work deals with fault diagnosis and fault-tolerant control strategies for wind turbines, which are implemented in simulations using sliding mode observer based methods.
In the first part, the necessary groundwork is laid out concerning the dynamic wind turbine models, the control and the effective wind speed estimation. In the second part, the fault diagnosis and fault-tolerant control schemes are described and applied to several fault scenarios.
For many fault scenarios, the fault-free case is nearly reproduces by applying the fault-tolerant control.
