Functionalization of naturally occurring frameworks via palladium-catalyzed cross-coupling reactions was studied. This includes arylation of indoles via CH-activation reaction, alkynylation of (+)-estrone via Sonogashira reaction and arylation of (+)-estrone via Suzuki-Miyaura reaction. The methods were optimized, series of new substances were synthesized and the scope and limitations of the reactions were studied. Certain products showed significant activity as alkaline phosphatases inhibitors.
