Brookite, anatase, and rutile were hydrothermally synthesized and characterized by XRD, Raman spectroscopy, SEM, N2 sorption, thermal analysis, DR UV-vis spectra. The spherical brookite and anatase nanoparticles are of 10 nm size, while the rod-like rutile crystals are larger (500 nm). The degradation of pollutants over brookite was investigated under sunlight equivalent UV and compared to anatase and rutile. The degradation of pollutants was comprehensively followed by UV-vis spectroscopy and TOC measurement. The scavenger experiments were carried out to detect the presence of active species.
