In this thesis, BaZr0.7Ce0.2Y0.1O3-δ was synthesized by spark plasma sintering (SPS). In an extensive study, SPS process parameters and their influence on the material properties were systematically investigated to provides a better understanding of the sintering mechanisms occurring during SPS. Additionally, the proton diffusion and their confinement within the crystal structure were investigated by neutron spectroscopy. As an outlook, a proof of concept with an SPS process for co-sintering of membrane-electrode-assemblies with an application in protonic ceramic electrolysers is given.
