This research is focused on the functionalization of siloxanes to introduce antimicrobial properties. First, a synthetic route is developed to form polysiloxane polypropyleneglycol brush copolymers containing anti-adhesion properties. These products lead to the control of surface energy, which has an effect on the microbial adhesion. The second part of this research presents the introduction of bactericidal and fungicidal properties into the silicone, whereas QAS-functionalized side-groups (quaternary ammonium salts) where grafted onto a siloxane backbone.
