Total Available Soil Water (TAW, mm) described as the maximum available soil water capacity for the Muga, Segre and Ter river basins.
TAW maps were performed from soil maps generated in the frame of LIFE MEDACC by multiplying two soil attributes: (i) the maximum rooting depth of soil profile (Z; mm) and (ii) the available water capacity of the soil layer (AWC; mm H2O/mm soil). AWC was calculated by subtracting the fraction of water present at permanent wilting point (the soil water content at a soil matric potential of − 1.5 MPa) from that present at field capacity (the soil water content at a soil matric potential of − 0.033 MPa).
