ABSTRACT This paper describes the creation of the comics character Wonder Woman by the psychologist William Moulton Marston in the 1940s. Wonder Woman roots can be traced back to the american feminism of the 1910-20s. The analysis of selected Wonder Woman stories shows their connection with the women’s condition in the world war II. The spirit of the first stories surfaces again in the second wave of the feminist movement and in the popular culture.
