A typical LC-MS experiment consists of a sample preparation, a liquid chromatography, a mass spectrometry, and a bioinformatics stage. The sample preparation includes the proteolytic digestion of proteins into peptides. Next, consecutively the peptides are separated through liquid chromatography and measured through mass spectrometry. Finally, the acquired spectra are interpreted through bioinformatics means.
