In August 2012 Archaeological Research Services Ltd were commissioned by Northern Gas Networks to undertake an archaeological watching brief within the village of Heddon-on-the-Wall, in Northumberland. The watching brief was carried out during the replacement of the existing 4 inch cast iron gas main. No archaeological features or finds associated with Hadrian’s Wall, or any other period were encountered during the watching brief.
