Headland Archaeology undertook a trial trench field evaluation on land at Wheatpieces, Tewkesbury, Gloucestershire. The evaluation identified evidence of a probable prehistoric 'ring-ditch’ feature, a later prehistoric ditch and ditch terminal of probable prehistoric date. Two undated ditches and plough furrows of probable medieval date were also recorded. Features identified were of relatively shallow depth suggesting plough truncation of the site over a prolonged period. A small amount of prehistoric pottery and animal bone was recovered during the investigation.
