A series of archaeological works in the form of test pitting was undertaken by AOC Archaeology Group within the Phase 2 development area of the former Meadowbank Stadium, Edinburgh. These works are a continuation of the evaluation completed in April 2018. A total of eight, machine dug test pits were excavated in an area to the northwest of the 2018 evaluation area which was inaccessible at the time. The test pits revealed made ground deposits measuring in excess of 6m. the natural sub stratum could not be reached due to the extraordinary depth of the made ground and its unstable compaction which resulted in collapse after excavations between 5m-6m. No archaeological features or deposits were discovered during the works.
