AOC Archaeology was commissioned by Hadden Group to carry out an archaeological evaluation in Meigle, Perthshire in advance of a residential development. A 6% sample of a 1.2 ha totalling 360 linear meters was expected. Due to on-site restrictions including two live services and a previously unrecorded service, only 200 linear meters was excavated. The evaluation revealed a uniform soil matrix of mid-brown silty loam over clay rich silts and sand. A large linear ditch was recorded in Trenches 4 and 7, this was set on a SE-NW alignment running comparatively straight. This feature is likely a field boundary. The remainder of the site was archaeologically sterile.
