This project was conducted from 2008 to 2012 and formed the final stage for the East Midlands of the Regional Research Framework initiative proposed in English Heritage's 1996 publication Frameworks for Our Past.1 It built upon the Archaeological Resource Assessment and Research Agenda for the region that was published in 2006 after extensive consultation with the region's historic environment community, and provided an updated Research Agenda and Research Strategy for the region's historic environment.
