An archaeological excavation was undertaken by Worcestershire Archaeology on land at Parcel F, Framework Plan 5, Quedgeley Urban Village, Gloucester (NGR SO 81244 13371). In addition to the excavation, a further five trial trenches were also excavated, two of which were located within Parcel E, to the immediate east of Parcel F. The project was commissioned by RPS Heritage on behalf of their client Quedgeley Urban Village Ltd. Previous evaluation trenching across the Framework Plan site identified features of Romano-British origin within Parcel F. An excavation at Parcel G, located immediately south-west of Parcel F, identified a site dating from the later Iron Age to early Romano-British periods. Iron Age and Romano- British remains comprised large pits and ditches associated with a possible drove-way. The archaeological investigations identified archaeological remains predominantly dating from the late Iron Age and Romano-British periods. Prehistoric activity pre-dating the Iron Age was represented by residual flint artefacts, though a crouched inhumation could date from this period.
