This report presents the findings of a desk-based assessment of the proposed construction of industrial units at Summerleys Road, Princes Risborough, Buckinghamshire. There are no known archaeological sites or findspots within the site. There is moderate potential for later prehistoric and Romano-British remains, although any such remains will have been disturbed by medieval and later agriculture. There is a Scheduled Anglo-Saxon cemetery near to the site. There is no evidence to indicate the location of its associated settlement, but it will be somewhere in the vicinity and locating it would provide important new evidence. The setting of the nearby Grade II Listed railway signal box will not suffer significant impact. The setting of Listed Buildings and the Conservation Areas at Horsenden and Princes Risborough will not be affected. It is suggested that a field evaluation be undertaken to provide the planning authority with further information as to the presence, character, state of preservation and significance of any remains that are present.
