In March 2019, Cotswold Archaeology carried out an archaeological evaluation and watching brief at the Project Sofia Phase 2 site, Belgrave Road, Exeter. No archaeological features or deposits were recorded at the site. The presence of deep late postmedieval/ modern made ground immediately overlying the natural substrate indicates that the site was extensively truncated during 19th and 20th century development (see Archaeological background, above). This will have had a negative impact on any archaeological remains/deposits which may have been present.
