An archaeological evaluation was conducted at Dittons Road, Polegate, East Sussex NGR 559820 104967, between the 30th July to the 17th of August 2010. 27 trenches measuring up to 60m in length were excavated and revealed evidence of a LIA - ER phase of activity, represented by ditches, pits and hearths. There is also potential for a medieval activity on site, indicated by the discovery of the deposition of a single vessel within one of the ditches. Substantial quantities of redeposited worked flint were recovered from the topsoil, subsoil and colluvium across the site.
