This Heritage Statement has been prepared for 1 South Bank Cottages, Westmeston, East Sussex. The report has established that there is some evidence for prehistoric and activity in the broader area of the site. Therefore, the likelihood of archaeological features from these periods being found on the site is generally low, as with the Saxon period, although there is a medium likelihood that archaeology from the Roman period is present. Given the proximity of the site to the church, and the evidence for other medieval activity in the vicinity of the site, there is a high probability that archaeological remains dating to this period may be found. Similarly activity in the Post Medieval period is likely to be present, especially given the likely 18th century date of the Cottages.
