A heritage impact assessment was carried out for Land to the Rear of Dittons Farm, Polegate, East Sussex, in order to establish the likely presence and importance of any archaeological remains that may be affected by a proposed residential development of the Site. The heritage impact assessment has established that due to the Site's close location to Dittons Farm, and previously found medieval remains in the adjacent field, it has high potential for archaeological remains related to medieval and Post-Medieval periods. There is a medium risk that the Roman road, believed to be running below Dittons Road, may also be found. The Site has a low potential for all other periods. The site has suffered from previous impacts due to the construction of access road to Dittons Farm and the adjacent business parks, which are likely to have damaged or destroyed any archaeological remains on the site. The proposed construction works will have limited excavation with most of the new road being built up from the existing road surfaces.
