Geophysical survey undertaken by Bartlett Clark Consultancy (commissioned by Headland Archaeology UK Ltd). The survey revealed various magnetic findings including cultivation effects, land drains, a trackway and variably distributed alluvial deposits. The most interesting of these are probably the distinct band of magnetic anomalies which may indicate the silted fill of a former N-S palaeochannel. There are also possible traces of ridge and furrow. A few magnetic anomalies which could be interpreted as silted pits have been identified, but they are widely dispersed across the site. A possibility remains that such features could be associated with findings (perhaps including flint scatters or traces of nonenclosed settlement activity) which are not directly detectable by the survey.
