Headland Archaeology (UK) Ltd undertook an archaeological evaluation of land at Daventry Road, Southam in Warwickshire. 81 trenches were excavated in the proposed Development Area, 37 of which contained archaeological remains, excluding those containing furrows. The evaluation confirmed the results of the geophysical survey. A Roman field system found on the western part of the site with an area of greater density ditches, and possible settlement activity in the north-western corner. A smaller focus of activity involving pitting was identified to the south of the site. Medieval and post-medieval agricultural activity was recorded across the whole of the site, indicated by truncated furrows and backfilled boundary ditches.
