Archaeology South East was commissioned by CgMs Consulting Limited to carry out a detailed fluxgate gradiometer survey at The Croft, Ash, Surrey. The survey covered approximately 1.5 hectares of rough grassland and enclosed lawned garden. The survey successfully detected several linear anomalies of possible archaeological origin across the site. These may be associated with three discrete thermoremanent anomalies that may represent areas of possible burning or industrial activity such as kilns, furnaces or deposits of thermoremanent material such as bricks or other fired clay. However these anomalies may also be caused by more modern activity.
