In December 2014 Archaeology South-East (ASE), carried out a programme of historic building recording at Preston Cross Hotel, Rectory Lane, Little Bookham, Surrey. The work was commissioned to satisfy conditions attached to the planning permission for the future redevelopment of the site into a nursing home. This record is produced as an accompaniment to the existing Heritage Statement (Heaton 2013). The buildings marked for demolition include Preston Cross Hotel and the two associated outbuildings located immediately to the north. The hotel is situated on land that was occupied by a building from 1842. The present building retains elements of this structure, which has been substantially altered from the late 19th and early 20th century. Extensive alterations include the addition of a mock Tudor frontage to the east between 1914 and 1934 and the construction of a large function suite with guests' rooms above to the west. The two outbuildings were built between 1842 and 1869; both have been comprehensively refurbished in the last 20 years.
