A programme of historic building recording was carried out by Colchester Archaeological Trust at St Mary's Church, Wivenhoe, Essex in May 2020. The structure recorded is a small porch projecting off of the southern aisle of St Mary's church. Although constructed of sympathetic materials, including septaria, re-used Roman tile, flint nodules and ashlar blocks, the porch is clearly a later addition to the church. It was added to the building either during restoration work carried out in 1859 or shortly after that date.
