In response to a condition on the planning consent for the construction of a new barn at Darnalls Hall Farm, Green End, Weston, Hertfordshire, the Heritage Network was commissioned by the developer to undertake a programme of archaeological monitoring of the development groundworks. It was considered that the investigation had the potential to contribute to a number of regional research aims, including an increased understanding of the development and extent of settlement at Weston, from the Roman period onwards, the transition from the Anglo-Saxon to the medieval period and changes to the pattern of settlement at Weston through the later medieval and post-medieval period. No archaeological features, deposits or artefacts were revealed during the course of the present project.
