This report presents the results of a Heritage Impact Assessment carried out by South West Archaeology Ltd. (SWARCH) for the renovation and extension of Carfrae, St. Anns Chapel, Gunnislake, Cornwall. Keeping the proposed extension as a single storey structure within the existing mature garden boundaries will reduce the visibility of the extension and will be in keeping with the existing structure and with the surrounding landscape. Other modern impacts are located to the north and to the west, and these are in closer proximity to the Prehistoric assets of Hingston Down and the Prince of Wales Mine at Harrowbarrow. With this in mind, the overall impact of the proposed development can be assessed as negligible. The impact of the development on the buried archaeological resources would be permanent/irreversible, but this is thought to be of low potential.
