Detailed magnetometry was carried out on land to the north of Tadley, but within the parish of Aldermaston, West Berkshire using a hand pushed, cart based system of 5 sensors spaced 0.5m apart. The results indicate the presence of a number of linear and discrete anomalies but these are not well defined. The linear anomalies tend to be weak and fragmented, with a stronger response to the discrete anomalies. A group in the south eastern corner could relate to pits; however, it is not possible to determine if they are natural or anthropogenic in origin. Several other discrete positive responses in the northern part of the site have a stronger response but it is not possible to determine if they relate to pit-like features, or if they are associated with the widespread magnetic debris within the site.
