Detailed magnetometry was carried out ahead of tree planting by Swindon Borough Council using a 5 channel, cart-based system. A small number of short, weakly positive linear and discrete anomalies have been located in the northern part of the site, but beyond the limits of the proposed planting areas. They lack a coherent morphology and cannot be confidently interpreted as cut features. Other anomalies relate to extant ridge and furrow earthworks although another phase of agricultural activity has also been located. A pipeline crosses the southern part of the site.
