A geophysical survey was carried out by Archaeological Surveys Ltd over four small areas of land ahead of a tree planting scheme at Cadenham Farms, Foxham, Wiltshire using a 5 channel, cart-based system. The results indicate the presence of a number of strongly magnetic discrete anomalies that could have an association with burning. While one group in the south western part of the site could be associated with a modern bonfire, the discrete anomalies within the site are generally dispersed and do not have any clearly defined associated features. There are a small number of positive linear anomalies, with some evidence for truncation by ridge and furrow and/or land drainage. Weaker pit-like anomalies could be natural in origin and the majority of the areas contain anomalies associated with agricultural activity.
