This collection comprises issues of the Bedfordshire Archaeology Journal, created in 1962 as a way of formally recording the numerous pieces of archaeological research that were being carried out around Bedfordshire, and also some of what was occurring in Northamptonshire during the years in which that county lacked its own journal. The publication was originally known as the Bedfordshire Archaeological Journal, before changing its name to Bedfordshire Archaeology for Volume 16 in 1983. The Bedfordshire Archaeological Council ceased to exist in 2018, but the Council for Archaeology: South Midlands has taken over the future publication of the journal.
