These reports present the results of four phases of work that were carried out by South West Archaeology Ltd. (SWARCH) for a residential development at Land at Mount Sandford, Landkey, North Devon, Devon. The first phase of work comprised an archaeological assessment, a geophysical survey, and archaeological evaluation trenching. The archaeological assessment was carried out in accordance with the Standards and Guidance for Historic Environment Desk-Based Assessment (CIfA 2017). The geophysical survey was carried out in accordance with the guidance that is outlined in Geophysical Survey in Archaeological Field Evaluation (English Heritage 2008) and Standard and Guidance for Archaeological Geophysical Survey (CIfA 2014). The archaeological evaluation trenching was carried out in accordance with a Written Scheme of Investigation (Boyd 2017) that was drawn up in line with best practice. The second phase of work comprised a geophysical survey and archaeological evaluation trenching. The geophysical survey was carried out in accordance with the guidance that is outlined in Geophysical Survey in Archaeological Field Evaluation (English Heritage 2008) and Standard and Guidance for Archaeological Geophysical Survey (CIfA 2014). The archaeological evaluation trenching was carried out in accordance with a Written Scheme of Investigation (Boyd 2017) that was drawn up in consultation with Stephen Reed (DCHET) and in line with best practice. The third phase of work comprised a geophysical survey and archaeological evaluation trenching. The geophysical survey was carried out in accordance with the guidance that is outlined in Geophysical Survey in Archaeological Field Evaluation (English Heritage 2008) and Standard and Guidance for Archaeological Geophysical Survey (CIfA 2014). The archaeological evaluation trenching was carried out in accordance with a Written Scheme of Investigation (Boyd 2017) that was drawn up in consultation with Stephen Reed (DCHET) and in line with best practice. The fourth phase of work comprised an archaeological excavation.
