The aim of the archaeological evaluation was to record the extent of any surviving archaeological deposits, and to assess the archaeological potential of the site to allow the ECCHEA to determine if further investigation is required. An archaeological evaluation (three trial-trenches) was carried out at Osea Island Resort Manor House, The Chase, Osea Island, Essex, in advance of groundworks associated with the construction of several new buildings. Although being in an area of considerable archaeological potential, particularly for prehistoric settlement related to The Stumble, the evaluation only revealed two natural silt patches and no finds.
