Archaeological monitoring of all groundworks Archaeological monitoring was carried out at Clifton House, 36 Mill Lane, Witham, Essex in advance of the construction of a new dwelling. Located within an area of medieval and post-medieval activity, monitoring of the groundworks revealed that a large part of the site had been cleared of trees and/or shrubs. The only feature found was a modern pit or post-hole.
