Archaeological Surveys Ltd was commissioned to undertake a magnetometer survey of an area of land at North End, Yatton in North Somerset. The site has been outlined for a proposed residential development. The survey forms part of an archaeological assessment of the site and was carried out as a second phase to the development, the first phase of which is within land immediately to the south east and south west and was previously surveyed by GSB Prospection in 2013. The survey was carried out using a 5 channel cart based system with sensors spaced 0.5m apart. The results revealed a number of linear ditches that may indicate a trackway flanked by groups of pits and associated with further linear ditches and rectilinear enclosures within the eastern part of the site. The linear ditches are a continuation of features identified in a previous geophysical survey carried out by GSB Prospection in 2013 over land immediately to the south east. The enclosures and pits may be indicative of a settlement site that extends under the farm immediately to the north.
