Detailed magnetometry was carried out by Archaeological Surveys Ltd ahead of a proposed development for a caravan storage area at Ballard's Ash, near Royal Wootton Bassett. The results indicate the presence of a small number of very weakly positive anomalies, with several within the proposed development zone and a U-shaped curvilinear anomaly further south. However, they are weak and lack a clearly defined morphology preventing interpretation as cut features. The eastern part of the site has been subject to ground make-up and much of the remainder of the site also contains patches of magnetic debris and discrete, dipolar responses relating to ferrous objects within the topsoil.
