Detailed magnetometry carried out over 1ha using a hand-pushed, cart-based system of 5 sensors mounted 0.5m apart. The results of the detailed magnetometry indicated the presence of a number of discrete, pit-like anomalies, but it is not clear if they are of anthropogenic or natural origin. Variable magnetic responses and general magnetic enhancement of uncertain origin were located; these may be related to widespread burnt material within the soil, perhaps of industrial origin or related to removal of trees by burning. Very high level magnetic disturbance from overhead power cables prevent survey across part of the site.
