The methodology followed during this work was determined according to the Archaeological Recording Strategy outlined in the WSI (SLR Consulting 2021), save where variations were required due to the constraints of the excavations. Such constraints encountered during the excavations of Areas 1 and 2 in particular included dense tree coverage impeding the accuracy of GPS recording, the presence of contaminated ground within certain trenches, and the depth/instability of trench profiles. Where safe access to archaeological features was made difficult, or where accurate measurement was impeded, care was taken to accordingly adjust the methods by which the archaeology could be safely and accurately recorded in accordance with the best practice outlined in Planning and Archaeology: Historic England Advice Note 17 (Historic England, 2022), and the Standard and guidance for archaeological excavation (CIfA, 2014). Finds of Mesolithic, possible prehistoric, Roman and medieval date have been found, all residual except for the burial, alongside more substantial evidence for later post-medieval and modern landscaping, buildings and services. The burial is potentially the most significant finding, but the lack of dating evidence precludes the ability to further contextualise it using the archaeological background of the region, and indeed other burials recorded in the area
