The archaeological evaluation comprised five trial trenches located across the central part of Plot 9. Each trial trench was excavated using a 180 backhoe mechanical excavator utilising a toothless ditching bucket. Successive spits of no more than 100mm depth were removed until either the top of the first archaeological horizon or the top of superficial geological deposits was reached. All ground reduction was carried out under archaeological supervision. No archaeological features or deposits of significance were encountered in the five trial trenches.
