The evaluation fieldwork comprised the excavation of 361no. 30m x 2m trenches. The trenches were located to test geophysical anomalies (MS 2022) and to provide a representative sample of the remainder of the site. Trenches 70 and 228 were not excavated, Trench 70 was not accessible, and Trench 228 was situated on an Old Clay Pit, backfilled with modern materials. From July to November 2022, Cotswold Archaeology carried out an archaeological evaluation Land at Welborne, Near Wickham, Hampshire. A total of 361 trenches were excavated. The evaluation identified evidence of human activity on the site, spanning from the Mesolithic through to the modern era, with a find's assemblage of predominately Roman date. Features across site comprised of undated agricultural ditches for the most part, with two distinct areas containing Roman material, in the north and medieval material in the centre of the Site.
