Fifty-nine trial-trenches were machine-excavated under the supervision of a CAT archaeologist. All trenches were 30m long and 1.8m wide. This evaluation uncovered 25 features: 16 pits, eight ditches or gullies and a gully/plough scar. Of particular interest are a pit that has a possible Mesolithic or Early Neolithic date, on the western side of the excavation area, and a cluster of medieval features in the north. A small quantity of features dating to the prehistoric, Roman and post-medieval/modern periods were also spread across the site.
