Seventy-four trenches were opened mechanically under archaeological supervision, and potential archaeological features investigated using hand tools. A single medieval ditch and a hollow of uncertain date were the only features recorded in 74 trenches. A single tiny sherd of pottery might be prehistoric, and 20 flint flakes were found scattered across the site, mostly topsoil finds on the spoil heaps.
