MAP Archaeological Practice Ltd undertook an Archaeological Strip and Record and Archaeological Watching Brief at Broachdale Farm Kilham (TA 30446 6756) at the request of Earthmill. The Archaeological Work was undertaken to fulfil an archaeological condition attached to the Planning Application Consent. The initial stage of work was the stripping of the topsoil from an area measuring 6m2 for the construction of the turbine bases. The cable trenches were in the main 0.90m deep and up to 0.50m wide. The exception being the section adjacent to the farm road, which was 0.50m deep. All machine excavation was undertaken under full archaeological supervision Finds from the excavations were confined to fragments of animal bone (sheep) from Linear 1015 and three surface flints. No archaeological finds or features were uncovered during the overburden strip on both Turbine bases.
