National Center for Education Statistics. Drop-Out Count and Rate [Archive]: Drop Out Rate | State: Ohio | Grade Level: 12th Grade | Gender: Male, Female | Race/Ethnicity: White, Black, Hispanic, 2005 - 2009. Data-Planet™ Statistical Datasets by Conquest Systems, Inc. Dataset-ID: 017-011-001
Dataset: Presents the dropout rate of students in grades 7-12, by grade level, sex, and ethnicity. The National Center for Education Statistics calculates the dropout rate as Rg = Dg/Eg where Rg = the grade 7–12 dropout rate (rounded to a single decimal place), Dg = the number of grade 7–12 dropouts, and Eg = the grade 7–12 enrollment.
The Common Core of Data (CCD) is a program of the United States Department of Education's National Center for Education Statistics that annually collects fiscal and other data about all public schools, public school districts, and state education agencies in the US. The data are supplied by state education agency officials and include information that describes schools and school districts, including name, address, and phone number; descriptive information about students and staff, including demographics; and fiscal data, including revenues and current expenditures. Here, reported are data on dropout counts and rate among students in grades 7-12. A dropout is defined by the Common Core of Data program as an individual in grades 7-12 who: (1) was enrolled in school at some time during the previous school year; (2) was not enrolled at the beginning of the current school year; (3) has not graduated from high school or completed a state- or district-approved education program; and (4) does not meet any of the following exclusionary conditions: transfer to another public school district, private school, or state- or district-approved education program; temporary absence due to suspension or school-approved illness; or death. NOTE: Data-Planet has discontinued updating of the database. As of the 2008-09 data release, the NCES is no longer providing disaggregated data for the Dropout Enrollment base by grade by ethnicity, with the result that it is not possible to calculate the grade-level rate nor is it possible to provide context for the counts.
