Bureau of Economic Analysis. GDP - National: 1.1.5. Gross Domestic Product | Finance Line Item: Gross domestic product, 1969/1 - 2014/3. Data-Planet™ Statistical Datasets by Conquest Systems, Inc. Dataset-ID: 003-001-007
Dataset: GDP is the market value of goods and services produced by labor and property in the U.S., regardless of nationality; GDP replaced gross national product (GNP) as the primary measure of U.S. production in 1991. This measure of GDP is known as "nominal GDP," i.e. not adjusted for inflation.
Advance estimates from the first month of the current quarter provide the first data from the previous quarter. Preliminary and final estimates from the second and third quarters of the current month, respectively, are estimates of the previous quarter based on more comprehensive and revised data. For example, the advance estimate from the first month of Q3 is the first estimate for Q2. The Q2 estimates will be revised preliminary and final estimates in the second and third months of Q3. BEA provides data release dates annually; however, those dates are always subject to revision. For detailed explanation of GDP and national income and product accounts, see http://www.bea.gov/national/pdf/nipa_primer.pdf.

Along with the Census Bureau and STAT-USA, the Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA) is part of the Department of Commerce Economics and Statistics Administration. BEA produces economic accounts statistics that enable government and business decisionmakers, researchers, and the public to follow and understand the performance of the United States economy. BEA economic statisticsare key ingredients in critical decisions affecting monetary policy, tax and budget projections, and business investment plans. The cornerstone of BEA's statistics is the national income and product accounts (NIPAs), which feature the estimates of gross domestic product (GDP) and related measures. BEA prepares national, regional, industry, and international accounts that present essential information on such key issues as economic growth, regional economic development, interindustry relationships, and the nation's position in the world economy.
