The United Farm Workers of Washington was founded as an independent union in 1986 and merged with the national United Farm Workers in 1994. Rosalinda Guillen was a leading organizer in a. organizing campaign from 1987-1995 at Chateau Ste. Michelle winery, which led to the first binding contract between farmworkers and an agricultural employer in the state of Washington. She went on to hold various leadership positions in the national United Farm Workers union, and she also founded the nonprofit Community to Community Development.
