This dataset contains the results of an evaluation of comprehensive planning enabling state statutes. It includes data on the mandates and encouragement for the inclusion of 19 physical activity-related items in local comprehensive plans, conditional mandates to comprehensive plan, and conditional mandates on the inclusion of the physical activity-related items. In addition, this dataset includes state-level rural population percentage.
This work is a product of the Rural Active Living Workgroup of the Physical Activity Policy Research and Evaluation Network (PAPREN), a thematic network of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s Prevention Research Center network. PAPREN is an applied research and evaluation network focused on identification and implementation of local, state, and national policy approaches that influence opportunities for physical activity and built environment strategies.
