At somatic level, the over-expression of oncogenes is much more frequently reported than the under-expression of tumor suppressor genes (TSG). At germline level, the most frequent consequence on developmental genes is over-expression or ectopic expression but under-expression is also described. To date, no germline under-expression of a TSG, which could lead to high-penetrance cancer predisposition, has been described.
